Mission Work in HondurasLay Witness Mission Mission Photo Album
George also invited us to go on our first mission trip. We sure didn’t know what that would be like and there were many questions before we went. What to take? What will it be like? What will we do when we get there? Where will we stay? Lots of questions were in my mind. Click the map for a larger view of where Roatan is located.
Our Sunday school class raised money to purchase ceiling fans for the church. Another time they bought windows. There are many, many projects to do. When the missionary, Karen Rickel calls Jack and lets him know there is a need, we go. We always pay our own way and always donate money for many projects, because they just can't do it for themselves. They are very, very poor. We take medical supplies for the Missionary Nurse. One time, we built a church on the North Coast of Honduras, a small town of El Progresso, which was the first evangelical church there. When Hurricane Mitch hit Honduras, we went to the Island on Roatan and built several homes and repaired many others. We share our testimony with the people on the Island, who are mostly Gauriffinia. Since we do not speak much Spanish, the missionary nurse translates for us. Some of the people speak broken English. The British banished them to the island in 1797and they have been there ever since. Quite a history. Click here to read about it.
